Your Donations at Work: January 2023

Last month we delivered more than 1,000 medical components (enough to make 100 individual first-aid kits and four paramedic backpacks); 300 winter uniform items (uniforms, thermal underwear, boots, hats, gloves, sleeping gear); 1,500 hand- and foot warmers; and more than 100 power banks, heaters, rangefinders, binoculars and other electronic and optical devices needed in modern warfare. Our ability to do so was thanks to the $17,501.57 in donations received from 26 donors during the month of January, including a generous $6,000 charitable gift from Broomfield United Methodist Church.

SFSU focuses on supporting needs that governments and larger aid organizations miss due to lack of infrastructure or overwhelming demand. In addition to raising funds to purchase supplies, we work with local non-governmental organizations in Ukraine to provide Defenders with what they tell us they need. For example, SFSU volunteers at Rivne educational institutions worked with local mothers, grandmothers, children and teachers on a "Socks for Victory" campaign to collect 7,000 (!) pairs of knitted socks this fall and winter. Now, these socks are keeping our Defenders’ feet warm and their morale up.
